Founder/Chief Operating Officer

Karl Schoen grew up in Los Angeles surrounded by a culture of business and entrepreneurship. Karl’s father and grandfather were both commodity traders and Karl quickly took an interest to business and finance. His desire to learn more about the business world led him to study finance in Landers College of New York. Shortly thereafter he started working for a variety of fledgling companies.

At these companies Karl started to take notice on what helped a company in its infancy succeed. Karl noticed that one of the most crucial elements for a business’s success is the passion that the founder and its employees have for the company they work for. Karl comes from a family of whiskey enthusiasts.

He witnessed that fine whiskey was always used to celebrate the good times in one’s life. It was at that time that he came up with the concept that he now calls The Perfect Fifth. The Perfect Fifth was the ideal marriage of Karl’s passion for Whiskey and entrepreneurship. Karl started the Perfect Fifth to not only be able to share his love for whiskey with his family but rather to be able to raise a glass with all of those that are whiskey enthusiasts like himself.

Jackson

Brand Ambassador

Jackson is a whisk(e)y enthusiast who started documenting his bottles in 2014 under his Instagram handle @thewhiskeyguy. Jackson grew tired of drinking the same whiskies so he decided to head over to his local liquor store and try something new. That liquor store visit turned into a weekly event, finding a new bottle at a new liquor store then posting his thoughts about that week’s find.

He decided to take this new passion over to Japan. On his several trips there he explored the wide array of mom and pop liquor stores trying to find new and fun whisk(e)y where he could share his knowledge of them on Instagram. In 2018 he started to volunteer at Double Barrel inside Saddle Peak Lodge on Saturday, to continue his self-education on all things whisk(e)y. He was then offered a job at the new location, The Double Barrel in Beverly Hills. He worked there for just over a year, helping out more as time went on, Saturday turned into several weekdays all while doing his main job during the daytime. He was then approached by The Perfect Fifth to become the Brand Ambassador. It was clear to Jackson that The Perfect Fifth’s mission of finding rare and exquisite whiskies and sharing them with other whisk(e)y enthusiasts matched his own passion. Jackson gladly accepted and a new journey awaits.
